4 out of 5 stars A GREAT FILM!! !! !! !! !!   December 22, 2005
M. Western (Wakefield, West yorkshire, Enagland, Eurpoe, Earth, Some random 'milky way')
This is a great film and is criticised sooften about how bad it is, it isn't that bad atall!
This film includes some good acting and has plenty of action as well as a decent story!
This film is overated for its violence though as it isn't that violent really! Some scenes may be a bit violent but it isn't that bad!
I think this is a great film which is one film that should be put on a UMD so if you have a PSP and like action films then get this and mabe the UMD version of "Predator" to go with it as it is also a great action film which in my opinion is way more violent that this too!

1 out of 5 stars What a waste.... SOMEONE should be Punished.   October 20, 2005

How well this movie has translated to the PSP format is irrelevant. This has to be one of the worst comic book to film adaptations ever made. Uneven in tone, abysmally shot, packed with apalling performances (that's YOU Travolta) and utterly juvenile, in a bad way. Most importantly for action flick, the action, barring a couple of nice touches, is lame.

Tom Jane as Frank Castle could have rocked but the rest of this steaming nappie of a film undoes any of the decent work he puts in. The dark, brooding atmosphere which is so apparent in The Punisher comic books is totally missing, not least because the movie is set in Tampa, Florida rather than the grim streets of New York.

Too stupid for adults and too violent for kids this should be avoided by one and all.

I will admit that this was the first time I saw this film. It was also the first film I bought for my PSP.

I was very impressed with how well the actual media translates onto the smaller screen. The image is sharp and the audio is in pefect sync with the actors movements etc. The PSPs 16.77 million colour screen really comes into its own, and the quality is about what you would expect from watching one of those protable DVD players with the built in screen. From an Audio stand point, I recommend using the headphones as the PSP speakers are not loud enough to get a clear sound, unless you are in a perfectly quite environment.

The film itself was very impressive. It follows the tale of Frank Castle, an undercover FBI agent who is going into a desk job in London...right after one last mission. Unfortunately a member of the Saint family is killed, and even more unfortunate for Castle, Howard Saint (The dead man's father, played by John Travolta) is not too happy.

Howard has Castle's entire (yes, every last one) family killed at a reuinion. Castle is left for dead but survives the ordeal. He knows that the Law will never get the Saint family and associates into jail so Castle embarks on a blood stained path to a more "original" form of punishment.

Not to give too much away but there are some great scenes that will make you think, as well as some great action sequences. Tom Jane is perfectly cast as Frank Castle.

This is well worth seeing and looses none of its potency on the small screen format.
