Great game February 25, 2010 Carlos Cardoso (Portugal) Game buid for psp, nice helping controls for the small buttons of the psp
very good grafics
Good game with annoying controls January 28, 2010 S. Walker (Scotland) I only just bought this game as I have been on the fence about it ever since it was released thanks to the mixed reviews. But I only decided to buy it as my PS3 is broken and so far I think it's pretty good. It has quite a few things in common with Resistance 2, it has quite good graphics, very fun to use weapons, good online, it doesn't last forever but it is quite long, the voice acting is not bad and of course it has some huge boss battles and well that's all the good points.
The bad is that the controls are very fiddly, especially zooming in which can be frustrating sometimes, sometimes the voice acting can be bad and it can fell boring after a while as really your just running around shooting aliens over n over.
One of the best action tiltes for the PSP November 20, 2009 mystery shopper A good action-packed shoter, Resistance utilises the shape butons for general aiming of weapons, the analoge stick for directional movement, d-pad for in game menus & the sholder butons for firering. This control layout is found in many other games (MOH: Heroes 2, GRWAR 2 ect..) and is the only layout that works well for PSP shoters. Storyline is good, adds to the Resistance narrative. Concetivety with Resistance 2 on PS3 extends play ability. However, progress is only saved between levels, although checkpoints within levels prevent being dumped back at the start during game play.
A must Purchase for your PSP. November 18, 2009 David Andrew (UK) 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
Capcom have created a monster (pardon the pun), simply put Monster Hunter Freedom unite is simply a very deep RPG action game giving the player hours and hours of game play and for the price it is simply a steal.
A fun game with hundreds of missions to complete on your own or with others, but be warned it is not easy!!!, very steep learning curve that could put casual gamers off.
Slay monsters gather there parts create/customize weapons with decorations, gather materials combine materials ,create better weapons slay larger monsters, rinse and repeat, therefore could be a little repetitive after 200+ hours game play.
I purchased two copies for me and my son and whole weekends have been lost to Monster Hunter Freedom Unite.
BUY IT AND START SLAYING WYVERNS.
One of the best games on the PSP October 21, 2009 G. Heywood (United Kingdom) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The PSP is not known for having a huge number of games, but some of the games that it does have, are exceptional. This is one.
Resistance: Retribution (for those like myself who have not played any other games in the series) takes on the role of James Grayson, a British Marine who is fighting aliens in continental Europe. The aim is basically, to get into the centre of the infestation and basically wreck it (without giving too much away).
Along the way, you will shoot lots of aliens using a variety of weapons, and enjoy great scenery, atmospheric music, and cut-scenes laced with strangely suitable humour.
The controls are great (in my opinion, I am not a FPS (or TPS!!) expert), and there is little to knock this game for. Well apart from two things. Firstly, not enough variety in the monsters (although I guess this fits in well enough with the story), and secondly, the save points are a little far apart. Still, on a PSP with the ability to suspend, this isn't really a problem.
All in all, a great game and, like God of War, one that will definitely be played through again.
