Manufacturer's Description
Step onto the pitch and play professional football your way in FIFA 09. Experience the most authentic football simulation EA Sports has delivered as you live the fantasy of playing as a professional player and customise the game to suit your style and ability.

Powered by the third generation of the EA Sports football engine, FIFA 09 features more than 250 core gameplay additions and enhancements that deliver the most responsive, intelligent and realistic action ever for the series. Enjoy turning defenders with more controlled dribbling and ball control, snapping off precision shots with improved first-time shooting mechanics and firing beautifully timed passes with greater accuracy, placing the ball exactly where you want it.

With new player momentum physics the speed and weight of the player determines everything from the distance of a slide tackle and the power of a header to the severity of player collisions and the height of a player's jump. Plus, players now behave according to their physical attributes with larger, stronger players dominating collisions, battles for control of the ball, and position in challenges for two player headers.

3 out of 5 stars decent game, but too redundant   August 26, 2009

The control has been improved from 08 and it's more realistic and "freer"(the player behave more realistically rather than just a bunch of robots). But there are too many elements in the game that are redundant from 08. The entire manager mode is identical to 08's, they didn't even change the face icon of the managers in which you can select. The tournament mode is of course also the same. There's this new Be a Pro feature of the game, which I didn't enjoy at all. You will get to control only ONE player on your team, and the rest are controlled by the CPU, which can be frustrating when you know you can do much better. Basically, EA is selling us a product that's not much different from last year's. I would say this time the improvement isn't as great as the one from 07 to 08.

1 out of 5 stars Woeful!   August 19, 2009

I bought this game over pes. What a mistake. The graphics are dreadful and after 10 minutes it starts to give you a headache, the commentary is repetitive and unintelligent, when cycling through the menus it is constantly lagging, no national teams, the players are all dimmed witted and slow, I gave it a week and then flogged it on ebay to some unlucky soul.
The only good thing about it is the 'Be a pro' mode, and any enjoyment from that is short lived.

4 out of 5 stars decent game, but too redundant   August 14, 2009

On the psp, fifa soccer has everything go smoothly ( players' movements, the pace of the players is fast) and has a lot of features like challenges, seasons, manager,.... Its sure a good game. For PES ( pro evolution soccer by Konami), the movements of the players are quite slower than fifa, not many features, sometimes it gets slow significantly for 5-10 seconds. Konami still has a lot of works to do with the umd. However, when I play PES, i still feel more real. My advice, once you played winning eleven or PES by konami (like myself), you should think carefully when buying fifa, it might get on your nerve (fifa sometimes has things go on so unreal, usually by the AI's side, and TACKLE in fifa is so sucked, they get the ball all the time by tackle, LOLZ ).

4 out of 5 stars FIFA09   August 14, 2009

If you can't wait for the next season of football games FIFA 09 is a great choice, (almost) every league and teams, intuitive controls, in graphic matters it's not perfect but i think that you won't find much better in other PSP football games. You can also count with a lot of challenges, multiplayer mode and you also can update the teams.
