Product Description

Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops boasts ground-breaking online play that lets gamers recruit comrades to form a unique fighting force. The game follows the events of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, as Naked Snake establishes FOXHOUND in an attempt to hunt down the treacherous FOX unit, which has started a bloody revolt in South America. Set in 1970, the game will be the missing link in the ongoing Metal Gear saga, as players will learn more about returning characters such as Para-Medic, Major Zero and Sigint and also witness Naked Snake`s greatest tragedy -- a loss that sets into motion the events of later games in the Metal Gear Solid timeline. Full voiceovers for cinematics, performed by returning cast from MGS3 - Snake Eater

  • Extensive single-player storyline, unveiling a lost chapter in the Metal Gear Solid saga
  • New MGS gameplay elements such as the Surround Radar system
  • Online multiplayer mayhem - Team Death Match, Death Match, and Capture Mission
  • Acquire new squad members for use in single and multiplayer modes by connecting to Wi-Fi access points
  • Animated cinematic scenes illustrated by world-renown artist Ashley Wood

5 out of 5 stars Good but not so great   November 24, 2009

I have only played a bit of the ps3 version and this has excellent CQC moves and really allows you to use stealth instead of heavy weapons. But there is always the option to equip yourself with an RPG and SAW. Aswell as claymores and TNT.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent   November 10, 2009

this game has great controls and is realistic. The lackof buttons on a psp mean that it can get a bit tricky but its worth it.

5 out of 5 stars MGS Portable Ops   May 22, 2009

I have had this game for a few days, and it is great fun I haven't played any other MGS games as I only have a Wii and a PSP but it has already earned the privilege of being the best game I own. You can capture enemies and make them onto your own side which is good fun. Even on easy I am finding this game hard and I soon found myself searching for walkthroughs but I think this game is great.

4 out of 5 stars great fun for MGS fans   February 14, 2009

If you're already a fan of the Metal Gear Solid series, you'll love this game. Unlike the turn-based Metal Gear Acid, this title plays much like MGS3 with a few differences - most notably the new team-based gameplay and the ability to only carry four items at a time. Don't let the fact that it's team-based put you off - you'll probably end up playing as Snake most of the time anyway, and while it takes some time getting used to the way the game works it's well worth it as it's really good fun.

Gameplay is split up into short 'missions', fitting for a title on a portable platform. You could get a mission or two finished on a short car journey.

Perhaps both its biggest strength and weakness is its story. Set 6 years after MGS3, it follows Naked Snake / Big Boss as he makes the transition from lone soldier to the legendary commander. The MGS series are known for having complicated storylines, but this really takes the cake. Basically, unless you are familiar with the storylines of the ENTIRE Metal Gear series, you won't have a clue what's going on. If you are a fan, though, I would definitely recommend this. You really feel for Big Boss as he struggles to clear his name and to find out who this mysterious Gene really is.
