Excellent little golf game July 9, 2008 The Fault 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is my first forray into the world of Everybody's Golf but I must say it's a lot of fun. I have always been a fan of the Tiger Woods games because they were instantly accessible yet ever so deep - thankfully, Everybody's Golf 2 stands up just as well compared to its officially licensed counterpart. Whilst this does not have an official license and has a very cutesy appearance, Everybody's Golf 2 can provide a solid game of golf. It's easy to pick up and play straight out of the box and there are many unlockables to open up by winning tournaments (a lot are 9 hole, which is perfect for portable gaming - although these are 18 hole course so you can play a full round should you so wish). The online mode is excellent, possibly the best online PSP game I have ever played. It's silky smooth with enough options to keep the player satisfied for quite a while. It's possible to play people from all over the world - I have played in 9 and 18 hole tournaments against people in America, Canada, Japan and elsewhere in Europe. By competing in tournaments it is possible to win further unlockables, thus providing further incentive to play online. The only downside with online play is that it can sometimes be difficult to locate other players to compete with - in theory up to 16 players can play in a tournament, which would be an incredible experience, but in reality the numbers are much lower (average of 4 or 5 players competing). I have absolutely no regrets in buying this game - there are lots of incentives to keep playing both the single and multiplayer modes. This really is an excellent golf game and quite possibly marginally better than Tiger Woods games on PSP. One of the most fun games available for Sony's portable - highly recommended!
Good but much too similar to the first game. June 20, 2008 Nick Stevens (London, UK) 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
For those who are unfamiliar with the first Everybody's Golf, is is unashamedly about fun over realism, so if you are looking for an accurate golfing simulation, most definitely look elsewhere. And it is good fun - not difficult to make steady progress, with a even stream of small rewards and new stuff to win. But I think some players who already have EG1 will be disappointed, because it is extremely similar to the first game on PSP. For example, two out of the first three courses you can play are lifted straight from the first game, which does feel very mean indeed. There are some improved graphical aspects - the course lighting changes with time of day, it is easier to read the slope of the green as arrow flow is brighter, and the bullseye style rings around the hole that appear when you get close are a nice touch. This is more like everybody's golf 1.5 than everybody's golf 2, but having said that, the price is low, and there was nothing much wrong with the first game. If you did not try the first game, this is a great buy at the price, if you did try it, only buy if you want more of the same.
Lots of Fun June 6, 2008 wicket2005 (England) 9 out of 10 found this review helpful
Everybody's Golf 2 has the same gameplay as the original Everybody's Golf. You start off with two players and by winning items for them you improve how they play, this is in challenge mode. You win 3 types of cards and have to win 5 in each to open a vs character. If successful against the character you are then able to play with him/her. You also have tournament, practice and mini game modes. I have only played in challenge mode at the moment, because I am trying to make my players play better. The old Everybody's Golf had a mode where you could play against people near you via wi fi and provided they had their own game, which was fun. This new game takes it one step further in that you can play against people over the internet (provided you have wi fi access) either with people local to you (which I presume is the country you are in) or global which is self explanatory. You can also play with people near you too as in the old game. I have played in global mode in a tournament against people from USA, GB and Japan. The gameplay here is excellent and the top four get placed, I think you win items here because I was awarded one for coming 2nd. It is very similar to the new Everybody's Golf for the PS3, just a cut down version but will satisfy anyone who suffers withdrawal systems from the PS3 version and wants a more mobile version of the game. Graphics are on par with the previous game as far as I can tell which means they are excellent still. It is an easy game to play, basic controls are just pressing the x button twice to hit the ball, though cleverer people can add all sorts of gameplay by pressing other buttons to introduce backspin and the like. However, I get by just fine on just pressing x. The game is suitable for all ages and provides a lot of fun whether you want to do the challenges or just want a quick game of console golf. I can definitely recommend it.
