Maybe action/adventure games. The graphics are superbly crisp and the detail often surpasses anything seen on a video game thus far. Not every minute detail is so amazing, but on the whole, it never lets down. The combat plays well (perhaps the dodge roll doesn't always work too well) but it is has the tightest combat mechanics of the series so far. The weapons can be easily switched out (L1+X) which becomes an integrated part of your combo so that you neednt be hit or lose your combat multiplier. The game plays fairly shortly if you're good at it (my fastest time being just over 8 hours) but even after completion, i was ready to play it 3 more times! The violence (which, lets be honest, is what counts) goes beyong anything, even ninja gaiden 2's insta kills. You can rip enemies in half, rip heads off, and after every boss fight is the most satisfying button press kills i have ever played. Ever clicked the thumbsticks in to push your thumbs into someones eyes? You won't have to wait long if you have GOW 3! The blood spills in buckets and Kratos kills just about everybody he meets in the game, even unnecessarily. Furthermore, the game introduces the free-falling sections where you steer the character in flight which is soon to become very popular and seen on other games (like the new force unleashed). Every weapon is fun to use and the game can really get quite exhilerating as it gets more difficult, the death of Zeus is really quite a spectacle and one part plays like a 2D beat em up! If I had to state any problem, it would be perhaps that it's a little too short (though there are rumours of downloadable content appearing on the market) and the ending seems a little baffling (I won't spoil it). Otherwise, it has to be one of the best available games of this genre across all platforms!

i dont think i need to tell any one how much fun the God of war series is. i also own an xbox 360 but a playstation 3 is also essential for any gammer..... the ending part of the game is the most fun.... wont want to spoil it for those who are yet to play it.... great fun and fantastic graphics..... if you own a playstation 3....... God of war 3 must be experienced.

I bought this game based on the raving reviews it got and having never played through the first two I didn't know what to expect. To begin with I was little let down, because I'd never been a fan of hack n slash genre and it just seemed too difficult and grinding having to fight endless waves of enemies. But the more I played the more the awesome visuals, and OTT violence drew me in. The scale is epic and once you get used to bashing button combos, of which there aren't that many so its not so bad, and with each it only really requires a maximum of 3 presses, you can happily tear enemies apart while enjoying the view. Upon completing the game I bought the God of War collection, played it, and now am a huge fan of the trilogy. Best PS3 exclusive in my opinion, along with Uncharted 2. I'm giving it only 4 stars because I hate how they haven't put the feature in any of the GoW games of replaying certain sections (chapters if you like), so if you fancy playing back one of the many awesome boss fights you have to make your way through the whole game until you reach it, unless you strategically place saves at certain points. If this feature is there and I'm missing it don't hesitate to correct me. BUY THIS GAME!
