In God of War, Kratos, after being deceived into killing his wife and daughter, denounced his service to Ares. In order to seek absolution from his past sins, the Ghost of Sparta pledged himself as a champion to the Gods for the years to follow - these brutal crusades, in the name of Olympus, became legendary throughout the ancient world.

In God of War: Chains of Olympus, Kratos will journey to lands that no mortal has ever walked upon. With the world plunged in eternal darkness and the Gods rendered powerless, Kratos will face the most feared creatures of Greek Mythology, and ultimately be forced to choose between his own personal redemption and saving the ancient world from certain destruction.

- Epic Gameplay on the PSP system: Keeping true to the God of War franchise, experience dramatic camera angles and epic set pieces, offering a never before seen experience on the PSP system.

- Mythological Odyssey: This story is set in a time before the events of God of War, where players will experience Kratos' journey during the 10 years of servitude to the Gods of Olympus.

- All-New Combat Moves: Players can utilize new brutal combat moves along with their favorite combo attacks from the God of War franchise.

- Exploration: From the Gates of Hades to the Depths of Tartarus, the journey will take players through the dark and brutal world of Greek Mythology. Face-off against all-new creatures from Greek Mythology and engage in epic boss battles.

- Puzzle Solving: As players explore the ancient world, prepare to navigate through a labyrinth of challenging puzzles inter-woven into the story.

- Critically-Acclaimed Franchise: Brought to you by two award-winning development teams, Sony Computer Entertainment America, Santa Monica Studios and Ready At Dawn Studios.

3 out of 5 stars Not as good as it has been hyped up to be   April 28, 2008

I bought this game on the day of it's release expecting to be totally wowed. I'd read all the reviews in the mags "The most important game to be released on the psp" one said!

Granted the story is good. There were wry and witty moments (the two lesbian prisoners were very humourously done). Then all of a sudden the game was over.

What had I missed? had I gone past several levels somehow? I played it again just to see. No! That was it! Over in a jiffy.

Yes the film scenes are entertaining. Yes there was an engaging plot.
Yes the controls were mapped well ............ but I was still left thinking ........... was that it?

One review said that the bar had been raised. Graphically, it probably has but for longevity I get more out of Bomberman and Galaxian than I do this. At least the likes of Monster Hunter keep you engaged for months while you build up characters and their equipment. (No I'm not one of those who cheat their way through games.)

Entertaining and fun but if all PSP games become this short then I'm swapping my PSP for something else. No, not the crappy DS!!!!!!!!!!!

5 out of 5 stars This is why bought a PSP.   April 21, 2008

This game is amazing. It looks fantastic, fits really well onto the small screen. The story acts as a preqel to the first God Of War, AMAZING! The gameplay is the same as the two PS2 versions with different magicks and weapons. It really isn't a portable game at all, it's a proper game that they managed to squeeze onto the PSP through magick.
The treasures after completion include Hades Challenges, which are challenging to say the least, and a second play through is well worth it. This is the best PSP game I've played. AMAZING!!!

5 out of 5 stars loved it but too short   April 19, 2008

i absolutely adored this game it is easily much favourite game on any hand held console ever. The control system works brilliantly, the camera angles are never a problem(in fact they make the game very cinematic in areas) and the graphics are some of the best ive seen on the psp so far. However this game is a bit sort i completed it in 4 hrs and 50 mins on normal difficulty the day after i bought it. Also i didn't find normal difficult in the slightest, only dieing once or twice through out the whole game and i am new to god of war! that said this game does have suprisingly good replay value i am already half way through hard mode and also there are sort of mini games to play aswell. overall this is a brilliant game well worth 20 dont let the length put u off i promise u ull complete at least twice + all the mini games before getting bored of it.

5 out of 5 stars One of the best games on PSP   April 19, 2008

This is an excellent game for the PSP and if you have a PSP, are over 18, and like this sort of game, get it! I won't go into the story as it has been said a lot here, but it ties up the issues with the Titans, and adds a bit more information of Kratos' past. As many have said, it is short, but sweet. I get a 10-15 minute play on this on my tube journey to work, and some people close their dull newspapers to watch. The graphics run close to the PS2, and the sound and music are top notch. Less puzzles, but more fights are what this game is about. Its is rated 18, so it is not for the young or those that cringe at the sight of blood. Recommended.
