There is a cheaper way of doing this.... PLEASE TAKE NOTE September 30, 2008 Mr. T. D. Phillips (Cardiff, UK) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
It is not necessary to buy this cable, there is a cheaper way around it. The problem is that Microsoft make the AV cable that comes with the newer version HDMI Xbox 360s too big deliberately. You'll see when you plug in the av cable, it blocks the socket for the HDMI lead, meaning you can't plug both in at the same time. HOWEVER, Microsoft didn't foresee this when they FIRST released the console (i.e. before the HDMI versions - arcade/elite), so the ORIGINAL AV cable (i.e. red white and yellow), is small enough so that you CAN fit both the AV and HDMI cables into the back at the same time. Oh - and it works for the HD DVD drive getting over HDCP compliance issues etc. So, in summary, get hold of a standard HDMI cable (about 5) and search out for the original AV cable second hand which is a darn sight cheaper than the 30 that Microsoft are trying to fool us into paying. But now the fool's fooling himself
Very nice, well worth it. June 4, 2008 Luke Turner (My World) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
The fact that it comes with both the audio and video connections is brilliant, they can be sold separately. Your sound and video quality on a HDTV and surround system will benefit greatly from this. Make sure you have a HDMI connection on the back of your Xbox 360 and the back of your TV first. Don't give low ratings if you haven't - the product wasn't designed to speak and tell you to do this.
You probably dont need this. May 19, 2008 Jam (England) 0 out of 4 found this review helpful
This item falls into a pretty niche category. IF your Xbox 360 has an HDMI output (all ones sold before mid-2007 dont) then you can use this cable, the older 360's can't, so that's 90% of the market gone. Also, with HDMI, cable quality doesn't matter, so you can get a 5 HDMI cable (i know, i have one) and it will give as good picture quality as this, since the signal is digital not analogue. So, the only reason that you would buy this over a < 20 cable is that this has a seperate optical audio (TOS link) output, and if you don't know what that means, chances are you don't need it.

to rate this as 1 star because you havnt checked youre xbox has a hdmi output and obviously have no clue what a hdmi cable is , is ridiculous dont fault a product for youre own stupidity. I will say as others have only buy this if you want to have sound to an amp, as you can buy a lead for 5+ that does the same picturewise but only allows audio through youre tv.
xbox hdmi/audio output cable May 7, 2008 S. Ryan (London, Uk) 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
Guy's if you haven't got a HDMI port on your xbox why would you buy an HDMI cable? No disrespect to you but surely it's not the cables fault! Yes you can buy a standard HDMI cable but there isn't the option to send the audio output to another source, this is where this specialized cable comes in. This product is what you need if you're looking for a HD picture with the option to Jack out audio into an amp or surround sound set up, simple....sheesh!
