4 out of 5 stars Could use a story mode   July 20, 2008
Ms. A. M. Lanham (UK)
I think this is a great game but I don't think it has a whole lot of replay value after the competitions are all over. If there were a sequel I'd love to see cross country courses (not just the usual ones, where you go from one to the next, but like in real life where you have to turn in different directions and sometimes double back on yourself) but that's only a minor complaint, since there are enough showjumping courses to give you something to get your teeth into. It would have been nice to have some form of story mode, although sometimes it's nice to play without one. The mini games are OK, but kind of repetitive, and the Spot The Difference seems impossible to do!
I liked the fact you can fully customise yourself and your horse; not many equestrian games offer that.

4 out of 5 stars Brilliant game for all horse lovers   July 14, 2008

I thought the game was fab! I am a horse owner and loved the idea of the game. Its fab how you can control the wii remote like they are riens and its very realisitic, the controls are hard to get used to at first but as soon as you get the hang of it your well away. I was gutted to find only one level on the elite level tho! but it was great fun to play!

4 out of 5 stars Excellent game only a few bad points   March 15, 2008

As an adult gamer, I think this game was really fun and interesting.

It takes a while to get used to controlling the horse, but once you get the hang of holding the nunchuk and controller as you would the reins, it's really easy to control the horse.

Only bad point is that once you've mastered the controls there's not a great deal of challenge within the game as effectively all you're doing is steering the horse and getting the approach right, you don't control take off, over the jumps, which is a real shame.

I completed it within two days on the camera view because it was fun and addictive and am now trying to complete on the hat view, which is much more difficult, you just don't see those tight corners until it's too late!! which makes it more challenging.

It's a shame there's only course in the Elite level, the game seemed to finish far too soon.

The graphics are fab and there's plenty to do, even when you've completed. I don't like the mini games but I'm sure kids will.

Overall a fab game, I just wish there were more on the market and that you controlled the horses take off

2 out of 5 stars Not much fun   January 11, 2008

As an adult playing this game I expected a little more interaction with the horses etc. The controls are hard to master, the mini-games aren't exactly addictive, the prizes when you beat the times for things are very disappointing (new colours of gloves etc).

I am going to keep playing for now and see if it gets any better but it's just really hard to get into.

2 out of 5 stars Where is the fun?   January 7, 2008

My 7-year old daughter got this for Christmas and has played it twice. She can ride a real horse (much better than I ever could), but the control mechanism here is just not responsive; neither of us have mastered it nor do we feel inclined to.

I was going to sell it or trade it in, but reading the other reviews here, I may just encourage her to persevere a while longer before doing so.

The problem for me is that this game IS up against the likes of Super Mario Galaxy and Rayman Raving Rabbids (both of which the kids also got). They may be of a different genre but there are any number of different, innovative moves possible with the Wiimote and Nunchuk in these games.

As a consequence, they get results and there's enjoyment to be had - sadly, both seem to be lacking in this game.

I dare say she may very well end up sticking with real horses - just as difficult, but more rewarding...
