Amazon.co.uk Review
In a nutshell: The only game based directly on the new Pirates of the Caribbean movie, this is your chance to control Cap’n Jack Sparrow as he staggers his way through sword fights in his quest to save his own soul from Davy Jones. The lowdown: Movie tie-ins don’t have the best of reputations in the video games world but this does go to some effort to try and repeat the easy charm and constant action of Dead Man’s Chest. The game looks great at least, with Jack’s peculiar swagger replicated perfectly, and the movie soundtrack is superb. There’s also some neat puzzles to solve in the game, usually revolving around blowing up large portions of the scenery with exploding barrels. The combat though is a might too simplistic for its own good, with a strictly regimented way of fighting the three different styles of enemy. Most exciting moment: The best bit by far in the game is the completely separate multiplayer mode where you get to control your own pirate ship on the high seas. It’s a great little action game and with four friends a lot more fun than most of the single player game. Since you ask: Dead Man’s Chest is available on all three portable formats but not on the home consoles or PC. Instead the PS2 and PC has a Pirates of the Caribbean game named The Legend of Jack Sparrow, which is more of a prequel to the new movie. The bottom line: A good movie tie-in but only an average game. HARRISON DENT

HARRISON DENT Manufacturer's Description Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest lets gamers embark on a high-seas adventure that parallels events from the hit movie. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest is a swashbuckling third-person action/adventure video game in which players engage in action that reflects the cunning world of the film - with an abundance of disloyalty, humour and revenge. The PSP system version offers gamers the opportunity to control Captain Jack Sparrow. Players can utilize strength and speed attacks to take down enemies as well as "dirty moves," typical of pirate fighting. The PSP system version also features multiplayer ship battles for up to four players via local wireless. Ship battle gameplay contains 10 maps and offers GameShare mode (only one game disc needed to play on multiple PSP systems). :):):):) :):):):) GET IT NOW DONT FOOL BUY It!!! Really Good Fun September 27, 2006 A. Thorbinson 5 out of 8 found this review helpful
I got this game for my birthday and i found it amazingaly fun, i quickly found the saving annoying becuase you can only save at the end of each mission and each mission is fairly long, i really enjoyed this game but the last mission rather disapointed me becuase you dont even fight davy jones but fighting the kraken is good fun but alot of the time getting through to the next part of the level is simply pulling some levers in the right order This game is definataly worht the buy and the play and will sufice for a little while.
Short Lifespan - Poor Ending - Only Multiplayer saves this game!!! July 20, 2006 Jay (UK) 8 out of 10 found this review helpful
Not a full waste of effort to buy and play, but steer clear if you are a hardcore gamer as you'll dust this game in a day, as the levels are simple and any puzzles 'if you can call them puzzles?' are childsplay. Other then trying to get 100% in completions by going back in the levels to find missed maps,'I've heard most end with a 87% game complete result', there isn't much left to do, unless you know someone with the game and do multiplayer or gameshare on their PSP. NOTE - You can only play the ship game in multiplayer! - But it is the only saving grace after the single player story mode ends so badly, you don't even get a decent fight with Jones! If you want lifespan this ain't the game to buy, but it's worth a play at the least!
