Splinter Cell essentials... come on ubisoft... August 6, 2008 S. Jackson (Manchester, UK) IT'S RUBBISH!!! Splinter cell essentials is really just Pandora Tomorrow and Chaos Theory stuck together with that nasty cheap glue you get in Pound Shops... The game is set by flashbacks, which makes it very convinient for Ubisoft to use the exact came maps with slight changes so the PSP can handle it... they have used the same sounds, the controls are stupid - press circle to ove the camera, which is impossible in combat situations, ans which also means the configuration that's been kept the same for all previous games has randomly been changed... move sam, move the camera, look around, move him another metre... and to crouch, press Square, unlike the usual Circle... it's so annoying... and they swapped the shoulder buttons around - WHY?! The bonus missions are Pandora missions. No joke, they are exactly the same, no changes. Pathetic. Yes it's hard to make a highquality game on the PSP, but not that bad... and with reviews similar on PS3's Double Agent - Ubisoft just copied the PS2 version onto bluray... very bad. So if you're a Splinter cell fan, don't buy the game. you'll be dissapointed... really you will... oh and at the end of essentials there's a pointless cliffhanger that according to the new splinter cell game "Conviction" makes essentials' storyline no sense. so, in conclusion, DON'T BUY IT!!! Buy loco Roco instead it's sooo cool!!!!
hard, but enjoyable January 7, 2008 reading fool the game is fun, but tricky parts u just get bored and think "Why"... but most of the time there is an xciting part afterwards! get it i also reccomend TRANSFORMERS
Too Dark - Too Dull July 4, 2007 Jonny Pilot 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I am sure that suggesting a stealth game is too dark will attract criticism, but as my first foray into the world of Splinter Cell, I really couldn't see the point of a game that almost forces you to use the night vision permanently. Not until the last chapters was the graphic capability of the PSP properly exploited. I also found that there is a lack of drive - no gameplay - no real adrenaline kick to redeem the game. Work out the puzzles, evolve a strategy to despatch hostile characters and plod on........ As for the ending, more of the same with no real logic or problem solving evident. Sorry doesn't spin my prop!
Ok Game, But Where's The Rest? May 29, 2007 Simon Halsey (Nottingham, UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I liked the game, it was fun to play, made good use of the controls. The story was there, but not overly complex - you can just play it without worrying about it. It was all let down though by the game just suddenly ending. The story just stops and you're left with feeling like you've achieved nothing. If you can get this game cheap, go for it, you'll enjoy it, but don't pay full price for it.
Horrid controls and average graphics May 28, 2007 Dennis Jorgensen (Denmark) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I really like the Splinter Cell series, and I wanted to like this too, but It's just not a good game... in fact its barely a decent game. Even if you love the franchise, I would advise you NOT to buy this frustrating sub par, game. Get Socom, Killzone or Syphon Filter instead.
