In a nutshell:
Video games based on movies have never had a terrific track record but this looks like breaking the mould forever. Not only is the Peter Jackson himself involved; but so is the Michel Ancel, creator of video game classics such as Rayman. The results look extraordinary.

The lowdown:
You take on the roles of both Jack Driscoll and the mighty Kong. Being the big monkey is great, naturally, but the feeling of power is neatly turned on its head when you play as the considerably more vulnerable Jack. Overall, it's an intense, absorbing romp.

Most exciting moment:
Escaping down some white water rapids as a puny human, chased by two tyrannosaurs rex.

Since you ask:
Peter Jackson loved Michel Ancel's Beyond Good & Evil game so much that he asked him to make Kong.

The bottom line:
Potentially, the most cinematic video game ever made.
Harrison Dent

2 out of 5 stars Not the friendliest game I've ever played!!!   January 28, 2008

When I bought this game I thought I was in for a great few hours of entertainment. After about half an hour, I realized how wrong I had been.
The screen, however much you light it up, is always dark and gloomy.Always creepy and not the best game to play in the evenings. It wasn't what I was expecting, especially as you can only play as two characters. I thought the 1st person shooting aspect would be like James Bond.I was wrong. You can only carry one weapon at a time and looking around is quite difficult. The only way you can see there is a creature behind you is the screen turning red.Basically, it's killed you. Don't buy this game unless you really want to bore yourself with gloomy scenes.

this game is amazing I play it for five mins and I fell in love with it the gamplays super duper fun the only bad part is the last level when all you have to do is go up a wall and kill a plane or two over all its a amazing game.

This game is full of action, has excellent graphics and sound and is good fun. This is a game for a handheld, so it's a mistake to compare it to a ps2 game. Highly recommended. Chris

I got this game second hand and having played the xbox version was really looking forward to having a go at this version.
Well my first impressions were good. great graphics (the odd glitch) great likeness to the movie only bad thing was the controls, slightly hard to use but i started to get used to it. Sad thing was as soon as i had got used to them it was all over. The reasion it was over so quickly was simply because the 15 levels that the game had were too short and just too easy. i only got to use about 3 or 4 guns and the other weapons were just spears and bones. Kong looked great but you really only had to tap X and let him run and jump where ever he had to go. There were not enough enemies and it all started to get boring. I was always on my own and it just wasn't as good as the xbox version.
Really all they have done is taken some of the best levels out of the bigger console version and squeezed what they could onto a UMD.
It's quite fun to start with but that fun stops early on in the game.

2 out of 5 stars King Kong Official Game   November 6, 2006

The graphics and style of this game are unbeatable so far on the psp and offer good value for money. However, I completed this game in less than 6 hours of gameplay. The reason being was that although the game was good enough to make me want to play on, there were'nt enough levels to increase it's duration. Aswell as this, once you have completed this game, there is very little to make you want to go back. Just the same easy levels, over, and over, and over. Maybe buy it for a relative you don't like.
