3 out of 5 stars It's okay, just not as good as the PS2 version   July 9, 2007

I bought Spiderman 2 PSP with my PSP last Autumn even though I had read reviews stating it wasn't great. I have to say that the graphics are nice and so is the gameplay. However the camera system once again is awful and is hardly ever on your side.

Also sadly the game is rigidly level based like Spiderman 1 on the PS2 with a get from A to B and perhaps do C on route. Therefore that free roaming that made Spiderman 2 PS2 oh so beautiful and replayable is gone out of the window. Spiderman's webbing has also gone back to sticking to clouds somehow. Also there are not really any secret bonuses that are worthwhile to unlock and the way that, even if you save your game after a level, you have to go back and find the same secrets again and again and again upon each time you turn on the game is annoying. My advice is that you stick with the missions then leave it alone for a while because even though it's not great, there are far worse games out there.

This game rocks! Have you ever played the 1st Spiderman movie game for ps2, xbox, gamecube and PC? A classic game! This spiderman 2 game is different from the other consoles, as it is set in the old layout as Spiderman The Movie. I personally think this is better than the one on the other consoles having played it on PC. Just think of this as the ACTUAL sequal to Spiderman The Movie (The Game). By the way - You can free roam. It's the first level! Just don't do the mission and roam about like you could in Spiderman The Movie.

2 out of 5 stars Good fun, way too short!!!   September 26, 2005

I have played this game and it is decent enough. It's similar to the PS2 version in that a lot of additiontal moves are available to purchase depending on how well you did in each level. The figthing and webbing are very satisfying considering the range of moves on offer, but that's where the similarities end. This game is far too easy and short!!! The entire game is linear and there are NO free roaming sections to the game at all. Yes there are a couple of points where you're webbing all over the place to catch someone, but you never get a breather or a chance to explore. Every section is a level and you can't bypass it or just go cruising around the city. I completed it form start to finish in around 3 hours, and with little to no replay value the 35 price tag seems unjust! There are other games far more worthy of your hard earned money.

If you want a quick thrash around as Spidey in the main scenes from the film, then this is your game. If you're looking for any lasting value, save your money and look elsewhere!

3 out of 5 stars Ok, But not a patch on the PS2 Version   September 22, 2005

Let's get one thing straight right off the bat. You can't free roam around the city in this game like you could in the PS2 version. Sure, there are a few levels where you are swinging around the city, but you can't go down to street level, (you die) and you are usually against a timer so you have to concentrate on moving to the next target before the timer runs out. Speaking of web slinging, you just press the button and spidey swings away even if there is nothing above him to attach the web to. And that's rubbish. The good bits however, sort of make up for that. The graphics are pretty good, the voices and music are the same from the ps2 version and the storyline has slightly changed in so much as the levels feature the same villians, but in different surroundings. The only other annoying thing is the camera angle. You control this using the d-pad, but since it's above the joystick you can't do both at once, although you can camera-lock to targets. On the whole, it's just ok.

3 out of 5 stars Good, but short.   September 2, 2005

This game has great graphics, pretty good game play and lots of story. The game follows the Spiderman 2 plot, but with added bad guys from the comic e.g. Rhino. The game play is relatively simple, kicks and punches to kill your enemies, web to sling around and you can use it against the bad guys. I just love using Spiderman's web to pick enemies up and swing them round and round and then let go... BUT the game is pretty short and you can't explore the city as mentioned in the manufacturer's description, also the load up time in between levels can be slow.
All in all a reasonably decent game, but needs to be longer.
