You can't keep him off the telly on a bank holiday and nowadays he seems to be almost as prevalent in the gaming world. That's right: James Bond is back on your consoles in 007 NightFire--and ready to endorse a bottle of vodka near you. Games companies are weird. This release comes in the same year as the 40th anniversary of James Bond, as well as Die Another Day, the 20th film to feature the loveable old womanising drunk. So what do EA, proud bearers of the 007 games license, do? They make a game based on an amalgamation of all the Bond movies, with their own "original" story line, then go and stick Pierce Brosnan's face and a bunch of clips from Die Another Day in it. Whaaaat? Bizarre marketing decisions aside, this could finally be the game to come out from behind the shadow of the seminal N64 classic GoldenEye. Which means, of course, that this is a stealthy first-person shooter (with a few car-racing levels thrown in for good measure) bolted onto a cracking multi-player mode. Following on from GoldenEye is a bit like being asked to make Citizen Kane 2, but EA have sensibly gone back to the spirit of the original and NightFire is much more strategic than their last attempt, the rather shallow Agent Under Fire. Once again you can learn a pathological hatred of security cameras as you use an even wider array of Q gadgetry to kill people without them even noticing. The multi-player mode is also good, with meatier weapons than last time, including a particularly fun remote-control missile launcher. People are always crooning about nobody doing it better than Bond, but in the gaming world that's not always been true; with this game, though, it looks like he's taken the ejector seat straight to the top of the first-person shooter pile. --David Jenkins

A worthwhile entry to the 007 games but certainly not the best, some of the missions are super tough too which can be off-putting for general action fans. I would stick to Everything or Nothing or, the best of the series, Agent Under Fire.

Well, I have to say one of the first games I got for my Playstation 2 was 007: Agent Under Fire, which in my opinion, was good in that it offered something different i.e.: Bit of First-Person-Shooting, on rails shooting and driving. But getting through the game and most of the unlockables was easy.
I mean for example, you can take on that game 50 bullets approx but your enemies take about three. Also the snipers were really easy to spot as the lasersights from their guns made a ruddy line! Wheras on this game not only are the graphics more polished, the enemies are harder and more intelligent. They hide more when you shoot at them instead of running straight towards you. Also getting some of the unlockables is incredably hard and there are loads of them to unlock. The storyline is also darker as well, well it has a darker and more gritty feel about it. It feels more like something out of Brosnan film instead of a Roger Moore one, which Agent Under Fire doesn't.
Some of the best levels are the driving ones. My personal favourite levels are 'The Exchange' because it is the level where you can use the most of your stealth abilities without being forced to, and 'Enemies Vanquished' as you can drive the Aston Martin V12 (as seen in Die Another Day) at breakneck speed. Another great addition to the game is the ability to have bots in multiplayer, (something that the PS2 version of AUF didn't have but the Xbox and Gamecube ones did evidently!) so if you're bored with the one player and have no friends around you can still have a deathmatch on multiplayer against upto three computer controlled characters.
This game is essiential to all Bond fans and is by far the best yet. It will leave you feeling both shaken and stirred. *****

NO game compares to the multiplayer on this, me and my friends love running about, capturing the other teams flag, blowing each other to pieces with helicoptors and sniping one another from the rooftops. Single player is good as well with a good variety of missions and a bold storyline. EVERYONE with a PS2, GET THIS GAME! You will not regret.

Great value, great fun, great length and great graphics. I've had this game for a long time. And I have never got bored of it or regreted purchasing it. It has a great single player mode with lengthy missions and a good story-line. The graphics are good and the choice of weapons and gadgets are BRILLIANT! There are serveral driving missions which are really fun. The missions are really fun, the multi-player mode is the best part of this game! It has loads of Multiplayer characters to be unlocked, maps to be unlocked and Modes to be unlocked. The multiplayer maps are lots of fun and you can select different weapon sets. In MP mode you can battle against bots which is realy fun. Even if you don't have a friend to play with do not worry! You can play against the bots on the various multiplayer maps by yourself which is just superb!
I highly recommend this brilliant game to anyone who is into the genre.
