3 out of 5 stars good value for money   September 27, 2005

There are plenty of games that look and sound impressive but lack the gameplay factor. Sometimes the best games are quite simple and direct. Strikeforce bowling does not boast impressive graphics and sound but it is addictive and fun.

It's a budget bowling game with a few scenarios to choose from and a small selection of characters to play with. The characters are not particularly well animated but the bowling alley looks and sounds realistic. The sound effects are reasonably good but the background music can become irritating after a while (fortunately you can turn this off).

There are a few gameplay options to pick from such as Tournament, Open Play and practice mode but the multiple player option is by far the most rewarding. The controls are easy to learn and use so even inexperienced players will soon pick it up. I played this with a group of friends and everyone seemed to enjoy it.

My main criticism is that there is not a lot of depth to the game. It would be good to have a more detailed tournament mode and perhaps the option to improve your player's abilities and skills. Having said that, it's a very cheap game and it's good value for money. I've paid a lot more for some games and played them far less.
