Welcome to the Wild West, at it's all time best! September 9, 2010 Snak3 Shot Rockstar has produced the best environment ever; a bold statement I know. The soundtrack, graphics and characters come together to provide both a phenomenal and compelling Wild West experience that leaves nothing to be desired. This game offers a story mode second to none on the 360 platform; xbox live gathers dust as you find yourself religiously playing single-player until it is finished. However, the multi-player aspect to this game was generally poor, but really if it is multiplayer fun you're looking for, go play gears or cod. A wholly enjoyable game that is undoubtedly worth a buy!
Here is a more straight-forward way of looking at the purchase.
Length 7/10
Game-play 9/10
Environment - Graphics/Soundtrack 10/10
Story 9/10
Achievements 7/10
Overall 42/50 [84%]
Okay September 6, 2010 Kat 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This game is Okay on single player, however i found the multiplayer rather boring and repetitive. It's not like GTA in a sense that on xbox 360 anyway... If there is someone in a game with Strict or Moderate NAT, another person who comes into the game kicks them out and so on. So if you have Strict or Moderate NAT, then it would be very diffcult to have an online match, unless it was private. Fully enjoyed the single player though.
Red Dead is brill - siggi moran September 5, 2010 S. Gall (UK) New game for me and seems to be excellent with lots to do - from hunting animals to gang shootouts and herding cattle to saving people. Too much to write of actually.
Graphics are awesome, riding a horse is so realistic. Weather and time changes make it really good.
Shooting is a tad easy as have lock on and dead eye modes but if you wish to make it harder don't use them.
I like the gambling as well when needing a break from all the main/side missions.
Don't have a problem with the game at all, except in the Multi Player mode and thats more the people who go online rather than the game, tho Rockstar should have seen that coming actually.
The problem is that going on as a complete novice, people just sit and wait around and shoot you as soon as you appear in a town. So you get nothing done and can't seem to mix with anyone either - its siggi no mates!
With friends it may be that Multi Player would be better but very hard for a single.
The single player version is so good and vast I won't miss the multi player too much
People speak about being same as Vice City - have played this and it may be similar style but really so different game locations that not fair to compare them.
I'd recommend this
red dead September 5, 2010 dec red dead is a class game at first but after about 3 weeks it just gets boring, i mean don't get me wrong its a great game and i don't regret buying it but im just saying it will get boring after a while
Hmm, it's not exactly what I expected September 4, 2010 K. King I'll start by saying I have not got very far into the game yet, I've maybe played 3 hours so far. This is a review of my game experience so far.
I was (unlike a lot of other people) extremely UNDERwhelmed by the graphics. The last two games I played were Splinter cell conviction, and Assassins creed 2, both incredible graphically, so RDR was a bit of a step down.
But I was willing to overlook this, as I reasoned that because the 'world' of RDR is so big it would be difficult for them to make every perfect.
It does get a bit irritating when your horse gets 'stuck' on a piece of juddering pixels that can't decide if they are a rock or a bush.
I too, found it very irritating that great chasms open up sometimes, and sometimes your horse is stuck on the rim of it, and sometimes the horse falls down it.
Dying in water is quite annoying too.
I also don't really GET what's happening story-wise. I don't know if I've missed a cut scene or what but as far as I know, I went to see Bill on the train, got shot now I do random good deeds for people........I can't really see the point of the game yet.
In the effort to provide you with lots to do, they've lost the main plotline.
Some of the mini-missions are HORRENDOUSLY dull, like cattle herding, or going from A to B whilst listening to PIXELS waffle on for AGES about a load of crap that is pointless.
Understanding the hundreds of icons on the map that mean a myriad of different things is difficult.
The auto-target is very annoying when trying to shoot a nearby deer, and have yourself accidentally shooting a guy who is BEHIND you! But without the auto target, trying to shoot the baddies that appear from nowhere on horseback is impossible.
These little foibles might possibly get less irritating as I progress through the game, I certainly hope so.
The poker is a lot of fun :) The hunting for deer etc is fun, shooting people is fun (although how to capture fugitives without killing them is far too difficult!)
This game reminds me a lot of the other rockstar production, Bully.
If you approach this game expecting a giant sandbox then you won't be disappointed.
But don't expect a slick storyline, expect a little repetiveness.
