Product Description

Developed at Rebellion by the team responsible for the original 1999 classic, in the all-new Aliens vs. Predator players have the chance to take the role of the three infamous species; the Colonial Marine, the Predator and the Alien.

Each of the three species has its very own distinct story-driven single-player campaign mode that interweaves with the campaigns of the other two species. Aliens vs. Predator will also feature unique 3-way online multiplayer, allowing gamers to pit the three species against each other in the ultimate battle for survival and for the right to be crowned the deadliest species.

On planet BG-386 a colonist mining group discovers an ancient pyramid containing a dark and horrible secret. Across the stars a race of warriors is alerted to the discovery of their pyramid and a hunting party is dispatched to ensure that it remains sealed at all costs, whilst deep inside the ruined pyramid a malevolent intelligence awakes from centuries of dormancy.

The Marines story is an incredible fight against the odds, and the horrors lurking in the dark. Beset on all sides yet armed to the teeth, the Colonial Marine represents humanitys last stand with the firepower to fight back.

As the Alien, players will discover what its like to be the most murderous and lethal creature in the universe, with the ability to traverse any surface with awesome agility in order to get close enough to unleash its deadly teeth and claws.

A master of the hunt, the Predator grants the player a suite of exotic weaponry and equipment with which to stalk its unknowing prey. Earn the greatest honour by ambushing prey up-close and butchering them for a gory trophy kill.

Multiplayer is dead; partly because online patch support has allready officially been dropped by sega after only 5 months. But mostly because it sucks. This game is not i repeat NOT worth buying

3 out of 5 stars You'll be hankering for the original   July 15, 2010

Being a big fan of the original aliens versus predator on the PC and hearing this was 'very much the same' I was delighted to see the price coming down to a reasonable level on PS3 - with reviews early on being quite promising.

To put it simply
Pros
1) There is a good storyline on single player.
2) Sound effects and visually not bad.
3) 'Trophy' kils and 'harvesting' a novel twist.
4) Can be atmospheric.

Cons
1) Multiplayer is not great - where's the co-op swarm fighting of the original? Few multiplayer games apparently going on - no real public lobbies. This kind of thing is critical to a gems long term success these days.
2) Single player alien is a disappointing experience - see that fence? you cant climb it. See that grunt just down there? You can't attack him without dropping down - combat as the alien really is hit and miss and as such really put me off the game after a while.
3) The predator starts out with naff all equipment- gear is provided as mission rewards/objectives.
4) You soon work out the tricks in single player for each class, making the game a bit reptitive. For example - for the alien find a dark corner near the humans, hiss, wait for human to come close then turn his back, pop he's dead. Dull as anything after the 30th time.

For the single player it is mostly fun, if a bit annoying at times - but overall it feels like an attempt to deliver both a wicked single player and multiplayer but ending up with very much average of both.

One that will eventually end up traded in I fear.

P.S. the trophies on the PS3 are almost impossible to get as well.

graphics - in this game i have found a little fault in the gave . i would say the graphics need a tad improving . like the walls and background . but i see where they have made them a little plain to focus more on the gameplay so i think that gives it a better review

gameplay - the gameplay is quite good i would say not the best but fun . i like the kill system like pressing square to do a decent kill for the alien and predator . to me the movement can be a little better with the alien it gets a little annoying when aiming for a paticuler enemy.

online - i dont know if its my rooter or the servers but when i try to find a game with a friend of mine i can hardly connect to a game or just take forever. but when i get online and start the battle it can be fun when killing then and hearing them on the mic of how you killed them and find it funny . so i find it very fun especially when team deathmatch and with a mate.

voice acting - the voice acting is neat and tidy and fluent i cant find any mistakes in this subject of the game and it keeps the game on its toes.

4 out of 5 stars Not as bad as many would have you believe   June 7, 2010

Aliens versus Predator although not executed perfectly is still enjoyable and if minor annoyances can be wrinkled out a sequel could be even more enjoyable. The worst part of the game for me at least is the marine missions, it is any bog standard fps you could lose interest very quickly or really enjoy it.I personally bought this for the alien and predator gameplay and although the alien gameplay takes a bit of getting used to once mastered is really good fun.The best bits though do come as the predator the great weapons and thermal vision really make for a different experience and a really enjoyable one.
