3 out of 5 stars PS2   November 2, 2008

I recieved a ps2 about 3 or 4 years ago, when it was the best console out there.
But now it is being overshadowed by other consoles like the wii, xbox and others. I still think the ps2 is a very good buy, there is a huge range of games and it can play dvds.
Then I learnt I wasn't really a gamer, I have too much stuff to do and I'm not very good at the games. I still play on it occasionally though.
The PS2 is a good buy for people who enjoy action games.

The PS2, a truly excellent console in the history of games consoles. My machine is truly remarkable and I used to play with my Dad on it all of the time. Sometimes we played Dragon Ball Z: Budokai. Other times it was The Simpsons Road Rage. Since he passed away (he had a heart attack by the way), I have played on it and played on it and never stopped. I, as a royal Play Station console owner, therefore, do not approve of the silly slimline version because this version has so many happy memories of my Dad and I'd like to keep it that way, thank you very much. Anyway, my advise to you is get this console NOW and you won't be disappointed if you buy one of those silly little slimline ones. Only the real thing is good enough!

1 out of 5 stars poor product and poor customer service   July 17, 2005

I have bought 3 PS2 in 4 years. They barely last 12 to 18 months.
So keep the ticket and go ask for a replacement every 9 months or so. Or get ready to spend 120 every year.
This is all because of the DRE system that affects all of the sony machines: the drive gets crazy. They have known it for years, they have still not be able to fix it. May be because the PS2 are made in China.
It is a shame. The PS2 could be pink or yellow it would still be a bad product. Because of what is inside.
As a consequence, should you buy 10 games per year you would have to pay 40 + 10 because you will need a new PS2.
Sony are not helpful at all to provide maintenance. There is this phone line expensive deal system that leaves you helpless.
In the end it is up to the retailer to show their concern for the customer or not. Usually they hide behind the manufacturer.

5 out of 5 stars The Silver PS2   January 20, 2005

Im going to cut to the chase here and keep it simple.

1. Out of the consoles, and I have owned all 3 of the newest (gamecube, xbox and ps2) for over around 2 years, the ps2 is a far out winner.

2. If you want a ps2 to 'do what it says on the tin', get a black one.

3. If you want a ps2 that looks exceptional as well as being a higher functioning model than the original ones, including a close-to-silent fan and integrated infra-red reciever that will not look out of place in any modern living room/bedroom with the ever growingly popular 'silver electronics', get the silver one, and get a silver remote with it.
