Amazon.co.uk Review Jedi Starfighter is the latest in that much abused of gaming genres, the Star Wars game. Included in the few gems was Jedi's prequel, Star Wars: Starfighter, a cockpit-view shooter that stood out among early PS2 titles. Jedi serves more as an extra set of missions than a full-blown follow-up, but there are some new features and the gameplay feels a lot smoother. The finest of these new additions are the Force weapons; when playing as the Starfighter itself, you're able to utilise the Force to unleash mass devastation on your foes. The 15 missions alternate between control of this craft and a more robust ship well stocked with missiles; despite being based around a basic protect-and-shoot premise, the missions are nicely varied in style. The controls are baffling at first but you'll soon be pulling off some outrageous manoeuvres as you hunt down the enemy ships while issuing commands to your comrades. The graphics in these dogfights are fantastic, especially when using the zoom option, but larger ships tend to explode in a less than convincing fashion. The lack of recognisable characters, bar an appearance from Mace Windu and a Yoda voiceover, does detract, as does the lack of the classic Star Wars ships (the game is based indirectly on Episode 2). This is partially made up for by an unlockable Tie Fighter along with some new missions and some truly bizarre bonus material. While being a bit too similar to the previous game to warrant buying both, Jedi Starfighter is a very accomplished title that only suffers slightly from its repetitive nature.--Jonathan Winter

i bought this game from HMV, so i probably paid top dollar for it. anyway, got home stuck it in, and finished it. i hadn't even taken my coat off! it looks good and the music and all that. but it wont last long!
a great star wars game! September 17, 2004 George Cook (Candy Land) 5 out of 8 found this review helpful
i got this game a while ago, and as soon as i turned on the playstation i was amazed, not only by the brilliant graphics but the smooth, simple control system and the fun to be had flying around shooting down anything in sight! There are loads of things to unlock: new missions (1 and 2 player), loads of new ships and bonus items such as trailers and comic books. Once you finish the game the first time round, you'll want to go back and play it again, not just to unlock everything, but because the missions are so well designed and fun to play! The only complaints i have are that the game is a bit short and not too challenging most of the way through. Also i do not like the main character you play. But these are minor complaints really: nothing to stop you buying this great game!

At first glance some people may think 'oh great, another Star Wars game.' But LucasArts have really gone to work with this title, which boasts superb and realistic graphics, addictive gameplay and a host of unlockable bonus features. The game takes place during the time of Episode II: Attack of the Clones, but has very little reference to it, in fact it is an almost brand new plot. You are Jedi Master Adi Gallia who has been given charge of a prototype of the Jedi Starfighter, the ship Obi-Wan Kenobi flew in the film. As a means of testing this new fighter, Adi has been sent to the Karthaak system to investigate disturbances there. Almost immediately you are catapulted into a deadly scheme coordinated by the Trade Federation and Cavik Toth's mercenary army, in which they are planning to use devestating 'Hex' weapons to win the war against the Republic. Only a small Revenent force led by Nym opposes them. As far as gameplay is concerned it is very similar to Starfighter, but for those who are new to the series it can seem very confusing, especially on some of the later levels where the area is literally crammed with starfighters and starships. But the game provides 5 training missions seperate to the story at the beginning which can help you familiarise yourself with the controls and how the game works. You can play as Adi or Nym, depending on which mission you're on, and thanks to the new 2 player co-operative system, Player 2 can control 2 otherwise unplayable characters. In addition to your regular lasers, whilst controlling the Jedi Starfighter you have the option of 4 different 'Force' Powers which become available during the game, such as Force Lightning and Force Shield. Nym has a devestating host of secondary weapons such as cruise missiles and proximity bombs. The other two characters also have their own unique secondary weapons. The main downside to the game is that it is rather short, yet a wide variety of bonus features, such as 5 unique player 1 secret missions including one involving Jango Fett and Slave 1, 5 secret player 2 missions including a classic dogfight between X-wings and Tie Fighters, and a whole host of unlockable craft, such as the X-Wing, Tie Fighter, the Republic Gunship and Slave 1 which you can all select to play as in any mission. You can also unlock some humourous and often quite bizarre bonus footage. No doubt that Jedi Starfighter is a fantastic game, and with it now being so cheap it is a must for any Star Wars fan, and may even convert those with whom the force is weakest.

This game is excellent. The graphics are good, there are many levels. The game includes two player mode. You can use mind powers to electricute your enemies or create a defensive barrier which lasts about 1 minute. You fly over several planets like Geonosis. You even get to fight in the clone wars.
